Gratitude Focus: Efficiency and Growth

Reflection/Why I’m Grateful:

Today, I had a video shoot, and I am grateful for efficiency. Since coming over to the bank, I’ve said yes to more videos, more presentations, more photo sessions than I ever did while I was at United Way. I suppose my belief while at United Way was always to position volunteers and donors—those who made our work possible—as the most visible. While I didn’t speak as much as I could have, I still wrote like crazy.

But as I drove over to our Clayton branch today, I was thinking about how far we—and I—have come. I’m so much more comfortable saying what needs to be said to get the message of the bank out. And the team around me is so much more comfortable trusting the first and second take—because that’s where you get the most authenticity.

We’re refreshing some of our video and digital collateral, and I do virtually all of the voiceovers and some on-camera work. I love being a chief ambassador for the bank. I also see development and growth in so many of my colleagues. Our job is to tell the story—and then do the work to make the story come to life.

“Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”
—Matthew 5:16 (NIV)
