Gratitude Focus: I’m Grateful For New Perspective.

Reflection/Why I’m Grateful:

When I was younger, one of my favorite songs was Me Against the World by 2Pac. During my late teens and early twenties, that song was more than just music—it was an anthem. It captured exactly how I felt. Coming from poverty, growing up in foster care, and navigating life without parents or family, it often felt like I was walking through the world alone—unprotected, unseen, and fighting uphill every day.

In that kind of environment, survival becomes your focus. You harden yourself because you have to. You tell yourself it’s me against the world just to keep going. For many young people who’ve faced similar beginnings, that mindset makes sense—it’s how you make it through.

But as I’ve grown older, I’ve gained perspective. I’ve learned that not everyone is against you. And even more important, people aren’t meant to be your source. God is. When you finally grasp that truth, your heart softens, your vision clears, and your spirit steadies.

If God created the world—and He created me in His image—then the world can’t truly be against me. The same is true for you. God has already given each of us the tools to conquer it.

“If God is for us, who can be against us?”
