Gratitude Focus: I’m Grateful For The People Who Take The Risk

Reflection/Why I’m Grateful:

Today, I’m grateful for the people who take the risk to develop, purchase, and manage the plazas we drive past every day—spaces most of us never stop to think about.

After working in banking for years, I see these plazas completely differently. When I pass places like Signature Kitchen & Bath, Massage Envy, Harvest Lane, Imo’s Pizza, O’Reilly Auto Parts, Domino’s, Papa John’s, AAA, Gateway General Contracting, and all the other small shops occupying those micro-spaces, I don’t just see storefronts anymore.

I see livelihoods.
I see dreams.
And I see the complex ecosystem behind every open door.

Somebody owns that plaza.
Somebody took on the risk to buy it.
Somebody is depending on the tenants inside those small units to pay their leases so they can pay the bank that financed the development.

Before banking, I never thought about any of this. Now, I understand what goes into making these everyday places possible—how much courage, capital, strategy, and faith it requires to attract businesses, sign long-term leases, and create spaces that communities rely on.
