Gratitude Focus: I’m grateful for phrases from the past—like “cold-blooded.”

Reflection/Why I’m Grateful:

I was at the bank talking with one of our branch center managers, asking how things were going at his location and what unique challenges or opportunities were in front of him. He told me about a cross-functional project he was working on and how energized he was by the talent around the table. Then, as he named a few people on the team, he said, This person is cold-blooded.”

That stopped me in my tracks. I haven’t heard that phrase since I was a kid! I don’t even know where it originated, but it brought back some youthful memories of hearing people say, “Man, that’s cold-blooded.” It made me chuckle, and it gave us a moment to connect in a way that was both personal and energizing.

He’s doing such a great job. Honestly, he’s cold-blooded too—in the best way possible.
