Gratitude Focus: I’m grateful for sober thinking.

Reflection/Why I’m Grateful:

Earlier this week, I went to my physician for a routine check-in and a battery of tests. One comment stuck with me, she mentioned I’ve been picking up skeletal muscle, which is good, and I should keep that up. But she also encouraged me to better manage the stress in my life, especially to help regulate my blood pressure.
And then she said something simple, yet weighty: building muscle will matter even more in the second half of your life.

It wasn’t an emotional moment right then, but it’s been echoing in my spirit. That phrase, the second half of your life—hit differently. I’ve been thinking about this more since my milestone birthday in December, but her words brought a deeper sense of clarity.

I’m grateful first and foremost that I’ve made it to this stage, because there was a time when that wasn’t a guarantee. I’m also grateful that I can look ahead and believe my best years are still possible.

God has given me the consciousness to choose how I live this next chapter, on purpose, on my terms. To do what brings life, to love people well, to encourage others the way I’ve needed encouragement, and not to let anyone define me by their limitations.

This next half is about living fully into everything God has put in me, and helping others do the same.

“Teach us to number our days carefully so that we may develop wisdom in our hearts.” — Psalm 90:12 (CSB)

What It Means
Recognizing that our time is finite gives us the wisdom to live with intention and clarity—especially when we know there’s still more within us to give.
