This morning, I’m on the road again — it feels like the third week in a row. But this time, I’m grateful simply for the ability to get up and go. It’s just a one-day trip to Tampa to support my son as he gives a key presentation. I’ll be back tomorrow, but I’m thankful that life allows me the flexibility to pause, to show up, and to be present for moments that matter. Sometimes, the greatest gift isn’t the trip itself — it’s being able to take it.

Gratitude Focus: Grateful For The Message From Pope Leo

I’m grateful for the message from Pope Leo, the new successor of Peter, calling for a united Church,

a sign of unity and communion for a reconciled world.

Reflection/Why I’m Grateful:

What struck me most was his humility. He said, “I was chosen without any merit of my own, and now with fear and trembling, I come to you as a brother who desires to be the servant of your faith and your joy, walking with you on the path of God’s love.” That posture of servant leadership—rooted in love, humility, and a call to unity—is deeply moving.

His words remind me that while we may be many, we are one in Christ. The Church, at its best, reflects that oneness—a family walking together toward God’s purpose. In a world fractured by division, this message feels both timeless and urgent. True unity doesn’t erase difference; it harmonizes it under the banner of love.

Gratitude Focus: Grateful For The Fact That I Don’t Give Up

Persistence has always been part of my DNA. I’m relentless about encouraging people not just to buy my first book, Twice Over a Man, but to read it—because everything else I’ve built is rooted in that story. Years ago, at a Cardinals game, I had a conversation with the head of a major university. He said, “You’re always selling.” I remember smiling and replying, “Aren’t we all?” Whether we admit it or not, we’re all selling something—ideas, values, products, even hope.

For me, sharing the book isn’t about sales; it’s about transformation. It’s a roadmap for anyone who’s ever doubted their own capacity to rise. I believe in what I’ve written because it was born from lived experience. So, yes, I’m persistent—and grateful for that relentless spirit that keeps pushing me to help others see what’s possible.

Over time, I’ve realized that I simply can’t do everything and I’m unapologetic about that. My focus now is on the things that truly create value for the business, align with my passions, or position me to make a broader impact. Every day brings requests for meetings and charitable support, and while I wish I could say yes to them all, I’ve learned to choose wisely where I spend my time and invest my limited resources.

What’s interesting is how focus forces discernment. I’ll often take 10 to 15 minutes for someone referred by a trusted connection if it aligns with purpose. But I’ve also learned that focus requires boundaries—not every introduction or meeting is a good fit, and that’s okay. Just as I protect my own time, I’m mindful not to overload my team with engagements that don’t create proper value exchange. Focus, I’ve learned, is not about saying no—it’s about saying yes to what matters most.

This conversation reminded me that not every connection has to be transactional. I’m in a season where I value deep, purpose-driven partnerships—relationships where both sides create and exchange value. That’s what today’s meeting was about. It was a meaningful dialogue with a University, and I’m thankful they saw the mutual potential. When people catch the vision, it’s powerful. Let’s run through the tape together.

Gratitude Focus: Grateful For The Fact That I Don’t Give Up

I’m pretty relentless about encouraging people not just to buy my first book, Twice Over a Man, but to read it. Everything else I create—whether it’s a course, a talk, or a new project—is built on the foundation of that book. It’s the heart of my story and the root of The Thriver’s Path™.

I remember years ago being at a Cardinals game and striking up a conversation with the head of a major university. At one point, he said to me, “You’re always selling.” I’ve written about this before, but my response to him still rings true: “Aren’t we all?” Everyone is selling something—an idea, a belief, a vision, a dream. The difference is whether we’re transparent about it.

In my case, I’m not selling for the sake of selling. I’m sharing something that has changed my life—and can help change others’ lives, too. Just like the charitable work I used to champion, this sells itself. It’s a straightforward roadmap to help you achieve what you may not yet believe is possible.

I spent time today thinking about the two books I have launching soon. Though they’re separate, they’re deeply connected. Ward of the State is written for ages 5–10, and More Than a Conqueror is for ages 11–18. Both books reflect the heart of The Thriver’s Path™ and the message I’ve been sharing for the past 30 years—about transformation, resilience, and the power of owning your story.

What moved me today was how many people I reached out to for endorsements simply said yes. No hesitation. No conditions. Just yes. Many haven’t even seen the full manuscripts yet—just two sample chapters in the endorsement packet—but they still believe in the work enough to stand with it.

I’m grateful for that kind of faith and affirmation. It’s a reminder that when you walk in purpose and consistency, people recognize the sincerity behind what you do—and they show up for it.

Today, I’m grateful for my son—for his clearheaded thinking and patience.

Even though the clocks changed, I still woke up early and saw a message from my son asking to meet as soon as possible. By 5:30 or 6:00 a.m., we were on a call that turned into two or three hours of focused conversation. We talked through something that had been troubling me for months—how to structure the digital online journal and supporting tools for The Thriver’s Path™.

By the end of our time together, we had mapped out the entire framework. I’m grateful not only for his insight but also for how he challenged me. He reminded me that it can be difficult for others to follow my thinking because I process deeply and continuously. His advice was simple but powerful: slow down, give people bite-sized portions of the vision, and build from there. That’s how I operate in my core work—small, digestible steps that reveal the bigger picture over time.

I’m grateful for Matthew—for his clarity, for challenging my thinking, and for his patience as we worked through the Thriver’s Pathway Assessment, the digital journal, and everything that will flow from it.

“Plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisers they succeed.”
— Proverbs 15:22

I’m wrapping up 4 days here, and it’s always hard to leave. Many of you may remember this was the very first place I ever took a real vacation back in college — sophomore or junior year. I fell in love with it then, and over the years it became a family tradition. Eventually, my wife and I decided to buy a condo here. We mostly rent it out, but I make it a point to come down a few times a year to work-rest, reflect, and reset.

There’s something about the rhythm of the waves and the simplicity of life here — one level, quiet mornings, long walks on the beach, my wife cooking, and an incredible view from the ninth floor — not too high, not too low. It’s the perfect place for reflection and productivity. I’m also deeply appreciative of the staff here — they’re attentive and kind, and that makes the experience even better.

Gratitude Focus: Grateful For The Decision To Exercise Patience

Today, I’m grateful for the decision to exercise patience—even when it costs time, energy, and a little extra stress.

Reflection/Why I’m Grateful:

Recently, I was on a call with one of our virtual assistants discussing some final details related to OrvinKimbrough.com, which has been under renovation for what feels like forever—but in reality, it’s been several months.

During our conversation, he said, “I am grateful for your patience,” as he’s been learning new technology in Squarespace, navigating the ins and outs of the site, and getting aligned with the vision. He added, “Every day it gets clearer and clearer.”

That meant a lot, because it’s true—clarity takes time, and time is money.
But I’ve learned that exercising patience in the process isn’t wasted time; it’s invested time.

This project has tested not just my schedule but my spirit. There are so many complicated moving parts:

migrating The Accidental Banker into OrvinKimbrough.com

refreshing the premium sections

developing a dedicated space for Gratitude

and launching the paid premium content

Each phase has demanded flexibility, grace, and perspective. Yet, I’m thankful I’ve learned to superimpose timelines with patience—because something always takes longer than expected, and sometimes the delay is the development.

That’s why I’m reminded of this verse:

“But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.” — James 1:4 (KJV)

Patience isn’t passive—it’s productive. It’s how God perfects our character while refining our craft. When we allow patience to do its work, we grow stronger, clearer, and more complete.

Patience doesn’t just slow the process—it shapes the person.
