Gratitude Focus: Today, I’m Grateful For The Snow

Reflection/Why I’m Grateful:

I woke up this morning to a quiet surprise — a fresh blanket of snow covering everything in sight. I had gone to bed early last night, around 9 p.m., and I haven’t been on social media, watching the news, or checking the weather. I’ve been immersed in finishing a major project and preparing for board meetings, so I had no idea snow was even in the forecast.

But when I opened my eyes and looked out the window, it stopped me.

I stood in different rooms of my home just taking it in — the stillness, the beauty, the simplicity of white covering every surface. It reminded me that life continues whether I’m tracking it or not. That God’s creation moves, shifts, and reveals itself even when I’m focused elsewhere. And that sometimes the most unexpected moments are the ones that reset our spirit.

Snow — whether pure white or the kind that turns dark once life touches it — is a canvas. It shows up, lays itself down, and reminds us that everything around us is still alive, still moving, still becoming.

This morning, I’m grateful I got to witness that.

“He gives snow like wool; He scatters the frost like ashes.”
