What if the World is Waiting for You to Show Up?

Written by Orvin Kimbrough | May 05, 2026

Did you know the world is better because of you? Period.

This is a declarative statement and my prayer that you realize it. Are you tracking with me? Early in my life, I had moments when I wasn’t sure if this was true for me.

But here’s the thing: The world becomes even brighter when you show up whole and healed, when you step fully into the person God intended you to be. I’m not telling you what I think; I’m telling you what I know, what I’ve experienced. Are you still there? Are you listening? Can you feel what I’m telling you?

God is light, and so are you. That light is meant to radiate through you, spreading energy, hope, and inspiration. But sometimes, life gets heavy. We all go through seasons, seasons of growth, stagnation, and challenge.

So, let me ask: What season are you in right now? Are you holding onto bitterness, or are you leaning into betterness? Don’t let others, or that voice in your head, lead you down a negative path. Stay focused on the light.

When we cling to bitterness, it dims the light we’re meant to shine. But when we choose betterness, we allow God’s light to work through us, enabling us to show up fully as the people we were created to be. If you’re in a season where bitterness feels overwhelming, here are six steps that have helped me move forward:

  1. Reflect on a Better Time

Think back to a moment when you felt more aligned, at peace, or fulfilled. What did it look like? How did it feel? What were you doing then that’s different from now?

  2. Envision Where You Want to Go

Often, the emotional goal is to recapture the peace and joy of that better time, but the destination is forward, somewhere in the future. Picture your ideal state. What does better look like for you?

  3. Recognize the Tension

There’s always a gap between where you are now and where you want to be. Acknowledge that tension. For me, it’s a reminder that change is possible, but it requires intentional effort.

  4. Develop a Plan

Improvement doesn’t happen by accident. It requires action. Maybe it’s reading a book, changing your environment, or praying about a specific area in your life that’s holding you back. Whatever the plan is, make it intentional.

  5. Make Daily Progress

Small steps add up. Whether it’s adjusting your mindset, shifting a habit, or simply showing up differently, consistent progress leads to transformation over time.

  6. Pray and Meditate

I do this regularly, not in an overly prescriptive way, but by saying the words that come to my mind. Did you know that when you pray, at that very moment, you shift your focus from yourself to God? And the more time you invest there, the better it gets. It’s not magic, it’s focus. What you concentrate on changes your mind, your thinking, your heart, your doing… and your outcomes.

Are you still there? Don’t forget who designed you. Meditate on this: There is no one like you.

The world is better because of you. And it’s even better when you let your light shine, when you live as the person God created you to be. Choosing betterness over bitterness isn’t just about improving your life; it’s about reflecting the energy, hope, and light that God has placed within you.

So, I’ll ask you again: What season are you in? What’s one step you can take today to let your light shine brighter and make the world even better?

Whatever that step may be, the choice is yours, and the world is waiting.
