Reflection/Why I’m Grateful:
Yesterday capped off a long few days—and if you’ve been following my gratitude posts, you know it’s been a long few weeks.
I had a meeting scheduled after two full, back-to-back days. I could tell my exhaustion was high. My frustration was high. But my exhaustion was higher. So, I made the decision to tell the person on the other end that perhaps now wasn’t the right time to meet. I wanted our conversation to be God-honoring, and I knew I wasn’t in the right space to engage that way.
Instead of pushing through 30 minutes, we took five. We connected briefly, I signed off, and I gave myself permission to rest and recharge for the next day.
That small decision reminded me of something simple but profound: awareness is stewardship.
When you know your energy is low or your patience is thin, sometimes the most productive thing you can do is pause. Step back. Breathe. Refocus.
It’s not avoidance—it’s wisdom. And it honors both you and the people you lead or love.
“Better is a handful of quietness than two hands full of toil and a striving after wind.” — Ecclesiastes 4:6 (ESV)
Where might you need to pause, breathe, and give yourself permission to rest, so that what you give next comes from a place of peace and presence?
Question for Reflection
