Reflection/Why I’m Grateful:
While standing in the airport, I met a woman whose mother had recently passed away. She was on her way back to St. Louis for the funeral, and as we boarded, she ended up sitting next to me. Throughout the flight, I could see her silently wiping tears from her eyes. Though I wanted to say something, I sensed it wasn’t the moment for words—so instead, I whispered a prayer. I asked God to comfort her, to wrap her family in peace, and to remind them that even when a life has been full, the finality of death still hurts.
I’m grateful for God’s mercy—the quiet kind that meets us in moments like this, when words fall short but compassion still finds a way through prayer.
“Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.”
— Matthew 5:4
When have you felt moved to pray silently for someone in pain, trusting that God’s mercy would do the speaking for you?
