Gratitude Focus: Purposeful Days

Reflection/Why I’m Grateful:

Some days stretch you. Others fill you. Today did both—and I’m grateful for it.

I woke up early, took my time getting out of bed, and got straight to work around 6 a.m. From reviewing documents for tomorrow’s Strategic Operations Committee meeting to refining the leadership course curriculum I’ve been building, I made steady progress on what matters most. Even as I watched CBS Sunday Morning—one of my favorite shows—I kept the work moving.

Midday, I got outside for a three-mile walk and took in the quiet before heading to brunch at one of my favorite spots, Bristol’s in Creve Coeur. No alcohol today, just good food and good focus, because I knew more work was waiting. The afternoon was full—CDIAC prep, strategic OPS planning, and then back to refining the curriculum in the evening.

It’s after 10:30 p.m. now, and I’m finally winding down. I’ve been pushing harder these past few weeks as my schedule picks up, but I can see the finish line on multiple projects, governance, year end planning, comp review. 2026 planning, onboarding, leadership curriculum, Twice over a man children’s edition and more. I’m learning that purposeful days rarely feel calm—they often look like controlled chaos. But when your work aligns with what matters most, even exhaustion feels holy.

“Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established.”
— Proverbs 16:3 (ESV)

How do you recognize purpose in your own busy days?
