Reflection/Why I’m Grateful:
Today I’m grateful for receptivity. A colleague approached me and said, “That strategy session yesterday was wonderful.” I remember my very first strategy session at the bank—and I remember my last one. I can tell you: there’s a whole lot more openness now than there was back then. When you’re doing something new, discomfort is inevitable. People weren’t quite sure what to make of a non-banker guiding us toward being a better business. But over time, after some bruises and many breakthroughs, trust has been built—because trust is built through performance. None of us can achieve greatness on our own. But when we bring our collective wisdom to the table—and stay receptive to leadership that may look different—we unlock something powerful.
Are you receptive to a different kind of leadership than you’re used to?
Question for Reflection
How do you approach and make the most of slow days?
