Gratitude Focus: Today, I Am Grateful For Unexpected Encounters

Reflection/Why I’m Grateful:

  I don’t attend many galas these days, but tonight I did — and it turned out to be a blessing.

I had a great conversation with two people I didn’t know. One was passionate about education, especially serving Historically Minority-Based Colleges (HMBCs), and the other was passionate about real estate.

Later that evening, after leaving the event early, I walked to a familiar spot to unwind and catch an Uber home.

At that spot, I had several more unexpected encounters — including one really deep conversation about career, business, the city of St. Louis, family, law, and growing up in East St. Louis.

These moments remind me that sometimes the richest connections happen when you simply show up and stay open.
