Gratitude Focus: The Ability to Rebound

Reflection/Why I’m Grateful:

I’m grateful for the ability to rebound.

Yesterday, someone asked me about a bad decision I’ve made as a leader, or a time when things didn’t go the way I expected. I shared an early experience at the bank where I tried to bring in data analytics, but I didn’t align the proper support. I didn’t cultivate the right leaders or set the right expectations. I didn’t move quickly enough in the decision-making process, and honestly, I slow-dragged it.

Some of that was due to COVID, but the lesson was mine to learn.

That moment taught me something I carry to this day:

Never shrink your vision. Move with precision.

Make the tough calls, even when they’re uncomfortable in the short term, if they’ll set you up for long-term success.

I’m thankful for the grace to learn and the strength to bounce back better.

“Though the righteous fall seven times, they rise again…” — Proverbs 24:16 (NIV)

What decision didn’t go as planned, and what did it teach you about leading with vision and courage?
