“Always do what you are afraid to do.”
This statement from Ralph Waldo Emerson challenges us to reframe fear, not as a roadblock, but as a signal for growth. As leaders, parents, and individuals striving for purpose, we often encounter moments that test our courage. These are not moments to shy away from; rather, they are invitations to stretch ourselves.
Growth doesn’t happen by default, it happens by design. For me, growth has been intentional. I surround myself with people, friends, family, and my business team, who I’ve given license to speak into my life. Their perspectives keep me grounded and continually push me forward. At the same time, I seek out wisdom from books and disciplines that challenge me to think differently.
Proverbs 1:7 tells us, “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction.”
Growth and wisdom are linked; they require humility to learn and courage to act. Fear, then, is not an obstacle but a guide—a nudge from God to step into what He’s calling us to.
Take a moment today to consider: What fear are you avoiding that could actually be the key to your growth? Trust that wisdom will guide you.

Reflecting on Last Week’s Blog: Wisdom, The Treasure That Sets Leaders Apart
Last week’s Sunday Reflection delved into the profound connection between wisdom and trust, highlighting how trust serves as the cornerstone for meaningful relationships and collaboration.
This reflection was partly inspired by James 1:5: “If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.”
Let me know your thoughts on wisdom, how do you attract it, grow it, and share it? If this blog resonated with you, I’d love to hear your perspective. Add your insights in the comments, share this with your network, and don’t forget to subscribe to the newsletter for more reflections and updates.
In what ways have I been holding myself back because of the fear of what others might say? How can I focus on real impact instead of just appearances?
