It’s been a while since my last update! Earlier this week, someone asked why I haven’t been posting videos and articles as frequently. The short answer? I’ve been slammed. The end of the year is always a busy time as we work to finish strong and prepare for the new year. We all get the same 24 hours in a day, and I’ve been focusing that time where it counts most.
“Speaking of time, it’s hard to believe it’s been less than three full months since Twice Over a Man launched. The support has been incredible. Seeing your comments on social media has been truly inspiring, and your texts and DMs lift me up every day. I even saw the first video about the book on Instagram by Leslie Gill, CEO of Rung, which was so creative. Thank you! Special thanks to Amy Shaw, CEO of Nine Network, who will be facilitating a book club around Twice Over a Man for her executive team. Many more of you have also committed to book clubs, and I’m incredibly grateful.
I’ve been reaching out to my LinkedIn connections, inviting them to purchase the book and share it within their networks. If you’ve never done this, it’s quite an experience!
Thank you all for being part of this journey. Your support means more than I can say, and together we’re helping Twice Over a Man reach and inspire others.
The book has opened doors to speak not only about Twice Over a Man but also about my work at the Bank and our efforts to create shared economic prosperity. This week, I had the privilege to speak at UMSL about ethics in business and with the Berges Foundation about leadership, both inspired by insights from the book. I’m deeply grateful for these opportunities and for your continued support.
As of today, we’ve sold 1,400 copies of Twice Over a Man. While that number is encouraging, my vision goes far deeper: I don’t want readers to just buy the book, I hope they truly experience it. This is more than a story or testimony; it’s a manual, a roadmap inspired by what I call the “manufacturer’s guide.” You might be wondering, “What’s the manufacturer’s guide in this context?”
The manufacturer’s guide is the Bible, the foundational document that reveals how we’re crafted by God, our Creator. Twice Over a Man draws on this guide, offering practical steps to reconnect with our original design, transforming our stories with purpose and resilience. Here are some of the key elements in the book:
- Person Overview: This book provides insight into who we truly are, our resilience, perseverance, and grit. It reminds us that God has woven unique strengths and purposes into each of us, regardless of where we come from. Our background doesn’t define us, our purpose does.
- Assembly Instructions: Life can feel confusing at times. Here, you’ll find steps to realign with the person God created you to be, especially when life calls for a reset.
- Operating Instructions: Life is challenging, but we can transform trauma, disappointment, and anger into passion that propels us forward. This book provides practical advice on how to make that transformation.
- Maintenance Tips: Self-care rooted in God’s truth is essential. This includes avoiding worldly standards, surrounding yourself with positivity, and setting expectations based on God’s vision rather than the world’s.
- Troubleshooting: Life comes with struggles, feeling let down, dismissed, or underestimated. Here, you’ll find solutions for overcoming these obstacles and thriving.
- Warranty and Contact Information: You can trust in the promises of God’s Word and seek support through prayer and people who genuinely care about you.
- Regular Tune-Ups: Just as any well-crafted creation needs maintenance, so do we. The book encourages ongoing reflection, prayer, and growth to stay aligned with God’s design, helping you stay true to your purpose.
To everyone who has joined me on this journey, thank you. To those who have read the book, shared it with others, started book clubs, written reviews, or signed up for my newsletter at orvinkimbrough.com, your support means more than words can express. Together, we’re making Twice Over a Man more than just a book; it’s a movement for resilience and purpose. Thank you for being part of this mission.
I want to give a special thanks to the members of the Thrivers Club. Your support means the world to me.
Behind the Scenes (Exclusive Content)
- What’s happening with the Audible version? Is it close to being finalized? Yes, a draft has been delivered to me, and there were a couple of sections that needed to be re-recorded. I’m planning to complete this re-recording within the next two weeks.
- Are there any additional segments coming related to the book trailer? Yes, I’m working on 9 segments, each corresponding to one of the 9 chapters, to help promote the book.
